I'm mostly team stancil but the best anti-stancilist critique imo is measuring inflation based on aggregate spending then adjusting everything by that rate systematically understates inflation/overstates real income for ppl whose budget is dominated by things rising faster than overall inflation

matty’s schtick is any priorities dems jettison in order to win elections are worth it if they can win a majority and expand (or at least not defund) medicare/social security. but it definitely leaves the question of whether he’d argue for jettisoning those too if their polling shifted a little
