#USOC2026: Across 18 states last weekend, 64 teams competed in the 2026 US Open Cup Third Qualifying Round. In total, 149 goals were scored, 8 games went to extra time & 4 were forced to a penalty kick shootout.

I’ve always been a proponent of VAR in the lower leagues, if the infrastructure can support it, to aid in the development of lower league refs. I don’t see this as a terrible thing if it happens.

Thinking back tonight to Omaha’s match against Tormenta in July. That was not only the first time losing to the Ibises ever, but also marked the last USL 1 team to beat the Owls at Werner Park. Ian Cameron was still in charge at the time, and both teams were staring up at the rest of the table.
