How will AI improve our interactions with each other?
April 10, 2025 at 6:06 PM
They say AI is great at writing code. I'd say it's great at writing bad code, ok at writing ok code and mostly not great at writing great code. But does it matter?

Bluesky is currently at 34.6 million users and still counting up at a new user every other second.

I just read that "AI Mandates are tearing companies apart" and I can believe it. You can't just mandate it as a blanket policy, the codebase needs to be restructured into smaller parts that can be black boxes so that critical components aren't affected by code generation.

Software engineering is transforming from a ubiquitous profession to a highly specialized field. Like mechanical engineering post-industrial revolution, SW eng will shift from ad-hoc practitioners to a small elite, while AI handles 99% of routine coding.

The Hidden Pattern: What Mechanical Engineering’s Past Tells Us About Software’s Future
Behind-the-scenes, software development is undergoing a radical shift, and a clear pattern is emerging that shows exactly what’s next for the tech industry.

Prediction: Just like how you don’t need to be a mechanical engineer to work on a car, you won’t need to be a software engineer to work on software.

I'm currently making what I hope to be one of the most useful apps in the world. Right now it looks like we are going to use base for the blockchain. Why crypto? Lots of little transactions worth pennies each and app entities on chain.

My new setup is cursor next to jetbrains. I do general codegen in cursor then fixups, debugging and testing in jetbrains. Literally experiencing 10x-20x my old output. Code quality suffers a bit but it's a massive net gain.

The U.S. has two tsunami warning centers, both operated by NOAA. Employees were terminated from these centers today. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center covers Hawaiʻi, and now it is less safe to be near the beach.

In a move that surprised no one, the billionaires in charge decided to dismantle the IRS. Because obviously, they didn't succeed in hoarding enough wealth.

All this talk of trade and manufacturing disruption from the new tariffs makes me think trump just misses COVID times.

Cybertrucks are the new hummers

How exactly is barring the CDC from publishing reports helping free speech?
February 1, 2025 at 8:16 PM
This may sound dramatic but given the choice of driving a cybertruck or hitchhiking, I think I'd rather hitchhike. I just couldn't handle being seen driving that.

I feel like people that use typescript for too long develop Stockholm syndrome with it. They're like, "no it's good now, I learned how to keep it happy" meanwhile we on the outside can clearly see it is not and will never be ok.

What's a retro video game that you are sure you will play through again at some point in your life?

Why is tiktok kissing trumps ass every way it possibly can?

I just realized why we are losing freedoms. We forgot to throw in our buck o' fives.

Alright fine. Rednote is actually pretty good and got me back into learning Mandarin.

Never forget 1/18/25, the day the US government showed us we are most certainly not free.

Here's a short list of things that can destroy a country:

- For-profit prison
- For-profit healthcare
- Allowing politicians to receive payment in any way in exchange for policy
- banning forms of public discourse
- banning specific books and educational materials

Sound familiar?

There is no currently popular platform that adequately replaces tiktok. It's a major culture mismatch.

Reminder: It's not Democrats vs Republicans. It's megawealth vs normal people. No matter your comfort level, you are not megawealth. You are normal people.
