Iron Lung takes a premise that is already pretty minimal - ride a claptrap submarine through a spooky ocean until something kills you - and spins a tight compelling film without particularly deviating from it. A sincere, entertaining film without the usual Hollywood bloat.

I mean if you've watched any number of Aronofsky films you know ALL of his work is visually surreal and upsetting but totally devoid of substance, AI is a natural fit for him
