A significant amount of grooming and SA happens in families, or if not in families, around people who know each other.

If people really cared about curbing abuse they'd push for better parenting and the conditions that would allow it.

I understand Discord's desire to protect children but ALSO - we should be a lot harsher on parents for not using control tools that ALREADY EXIST.

We shouldn't transform the internet into a police state just because irresponsible parents want to give an unsupervised iPad to their toddlers.

From what I could tell it’s mostly based on followers/following (and the labels are AI guesses) so I guess a lot of professional pokemon players follow you, tbh I would’ve figured you’d be in this cluster I came across last night while looking at where various Historytubers landed

This account is like the WILDEST political posting thing I've ever done but the map thinks I'm closest to professional PokΓ©mon players than progessives πŸ˜‚

There has been a Bluesky-aggregating map and this accurately reflects the reality that I'm a videogame industry professional closer to the centres of power than @acvalens.com 😎

It's her birthday by the way, check her out and say hi!

I want to start drama but friends I respect would get upset if I did ;w;

Thank you friends.

Any other word he would've used to describe social backlash over Epstein's sexual harassment allegations as delirious (which is what he did) would've been missogynistic! It's just particularly bad that he used that term, too.

I think you're missing the forest for the trees here.

(1) SiobhΓ‘n is an Irish Gaelic name, it's like "Jeanne" in English β€” and yeah β€” she has She/Her pronouns on her profile.

(2) Your Hitler analogy has 0 point of comparison to a woman telling you she detects misogyny in how two men talk! That's a wild thing to say!!
February 4, 2026 at 12:18 AM
We can't know what Chomsky was thinking when he typed those words because no one here can make claims about his psychological realities.

What we do know is that the most recognised linguist of the XX century definitely knew the misogynisitc origins of that word and chose to use it in this context.
February 4, 2026 at 12:10 AM
You sound very condescending. If a woman is telling you she's detecting misogynistic undertones in how two men are talking to each other... about how one of them can get out of sexual predation allegations with his reputation intact... I think you should listen.

Who knows! I think it just goes to show being incredibly smart does not exempt you from cognitive disonance and double standards. I think that has to be a lesson in humility for every other person in academia.
February 4, 2026 at 12:05 AM
Yeah as a linguist of his stature I doubt that he was not aware of the weight of that word, specifically, for this context. Everything is deliberate when he writes, for better or for worse.
February 3, 2026 at 9:54 PM
This is not true. Chomsky and his inner circle have always been well-regarded in academic circles within the U.S., even moreso than abroad.

Hawkish liberals have never liked him because of how he puts their moral history in check, which is where this line of criticism typically comes from.
February 3, 2026 at 6:49 PM
Big respect for Finkelstein though. He had the best response for the situation that I've seen to traffickers.

I hope he can come to distance himself from Chomsky one day. Right now, I think he's struggling to.
February 3, 2026 at 2:48 PM
I'll say that right-wingers will over-fixate on Chomsky, who was a client, while ignoring the volley of Zionists and conservatives that were not ONLY visiting Little St. James, but also involved in the trafficking and the growth of the network.

This is Summers, Dershowitz, Barak, etc.
February 3, 2026 at 2:48 PM
Noam Chomsky's appearance on the Epstein files is disgusting and discrediting.

I think his whole "I don't regret talking to interesting people" attitude that got him to talk to war criminals also got him into the playpens of the rich - hope he enjoyed the thrill, I guess.

The U.S. government is so cooked LOL I wonder, what could even be done at this point?

Telling the political class to arrest the pedophile cult is like telling Batman to take Bruce Wayne to Arkham.

It's a very important moment in history for Americans to elect a leftist government. If we go back to a Biden liberal after this deep episode of discontent, things will stay the same.

It's the time for something like the Radical Republicans in the 1870s.
