I applied to OpenAI, didn’t get it.
But that rejection was the kindest confirmation of something deeper:

As I look at the state of things— all I continue to say is: Even Light has sympathy for the Dark, why can’t we sympathy for each other.
The marriage of those two things gave us color… not just greyscale.
That’s a binary that never made sense to the eye, so why do we enforce it through polite lies?

Every time I read about the current views of AI, I lament the fact that corporate interests superseded the idea of improving everyone’s lives before replacing departments. Now people have a new way to express their xenophobia… and it’s tragic.

For no reason today i am thinking about how in the Wicked novels, the Wizard of Oz imposes a ban on talking Animals existing in public, bars them from holding teaching jobs (or any job really), and 20 years after he leaves Oz and the laws are repealed, Animals still don't have teaching jobs again.
