you can criticize both of these but one was due to size/technical limitations and the other is just Bad And Lazy Design. this fuckass comic makes no sense because the location is sparse aside from the interactables and lacking the clutter that *should* make the sparkles necessary. also uncompressed

pre rendered backgrounds on the ps1 lacked visual clarity to the point important pickups would blend into them if they were part of them (which they often were) necessitating sparkles. in an age of full visual clarity, yellow paint is just objectively lazy signposting and design. shut up lol
