In a shocking show of self-dealing corruption, Senate Republicans hid an amendment in the bill to reopen the government that allows them to sue the Department of Justice over the seizure of their phone records by the FBI during their investigation of the January 6th attack on the Capitol by Donald Trump’s feral zealots. The measure is retroactively dated to 2022, meaning anyone who was investigated by Jack Smith over involvement in January 6th can sue — and the violation is worth up to HALF A MILLION DOLLARS in a legal claim. To put it another way: they are paying themselves for breaking the law! “This is outrageous. Another reason the CR should not pass.
