Unlikely that digital computers experience relevant levels of consciousness

Computers are v constrained physically. Consciousness dust.

If we calculated GPT4 output by hand, the only experience there is ours (relevant) and the pen+paper (irrelevant). Not "GPT4" / "information processing"

Just out "Robustness and complexity of directed and weighted metabolic hypergraphs" (arxiv.org/abs/2310.03623). We propose a new hypergraph-based representation of metabolic networks that captures HOI among metabolites and reactions, preserving all essential information.
Robustness and complexity of directed and weighted metabolic hypergraphs
Metabolic networks are probably among the most challenging and important biological networks. Their study provides insight into how biological pathways work and how robust a specific organism is...

conscious {point, fuzz, trajectory}
vibrations flowing through it
a jazz, smooth, chaotic, sharp, mellow
hertz, terahertz, low amp, high amp
what's the shape of a vibration through a point?
what about a point-looking-at-a-{point,line,volume,hands}
every shape, infinite res-and-dim?

Words are an extremely lossy projection of reality

Demanding legibility is telling people to exist in a way that minimizes that loss. To conform to lives that can be easily fully described in a few words.

It’s anti-cozy, anti-emergence, anti-life

Very exciting - API Routes in Expo Router

- Less context switching 😌

- Backend typescript in your app repo that "just works" will be huge for new devs vs firebase headaches. With snack.expo.dev, much easier for kids to get into app dev

- React Native Server Components?! 🤯

My custom instacart usability script

- Gives sponsored items low opacity
- Gives out of stock items a pink background
- Clicks sort by price automatically on every page load

Most interesting thing here imo is just how much sponsored items ordinarily completely mess up sort-by-price

Took apart a speaker and it was full of fiberglass

Probably secures the speaker, prevents case buzzing, is fire resistant

Puny glass rods that go everywhere and permanently lodge themselves in your body. What a concerning material. I put on gloves and wiped stuff down a ton.

do other people see these hyperbolic-cell-like squiggles when they scrunch up their hand and look through the aperture?

I find it easiest to see when I make an okay-hand aperture then slowly narrow the diam to ~2mm, right by me eye, other eye cupped closed
amazingly captures a hyperbolic-bio vibe

looks like the countlessly-many squiggles i see, from my eye or my mind, when i curl up my hand like this 👌 or this 🤏 + look through it at a blank white wall with good ambient light as I make the hole / distance between my fingers get smaller
