Happy New Year!

To start 2026, Richard flies solo to share his thoughts on topics that sysadmins should focus on in the new year - the usuals, like security and cloud migration, but with plenty of the overwhelming subject - AI.

@patriksvensson.se because of the terminal shader thing I revisited the old shader I based the first example on. Managed to squeeze it down from 301 chars to 281 chars. I am sure this skill will be useful in our ram-less future that await us. www.shadertoy.com/view/3fyfWm

I have been tinkering with path tracing. I am wanting to subtract a shape from another. Union is easy and logical. Subtraction not so much. I tried tinkering until it worked. I tried multiple AI models to help me sort my math out. In the end I solved it with pen and paper in 5 min.
