Bird lover living in Canberra, on Ngunnawal country. I despair at what our government isn’t doing to save our unique environment. Horrified by Trump’s ascendancy. Find solace in the beautiful posts of other nature lovers. Love is love 🏳️‍🌈 #birds #wildlife

I’m rather chuffed, I saw three beautiful Spotted Pardalotes at my birdbath this morning. Previously my record was two. Little jewels. #birds #wildlife

Someone (not us!) quite frequently gives our Australian Raven a slice of white bread which it then soaks in our birdbath.😐 There’s a Currawong chick in the eucalypt above which wouldn’t mind sharing. It’s out of luck. #birds #wildlife

It’s been stinking hot with no rain for ages, and we had a quiet visitor having a good drink from our birdbath last night. #birds #wildlife

Yesterday evening a young Koel chick discovered our frog pond on the balcony. I’ve seen it being fed by a harassed Red Wattlebird. #birds #wildlife

The first Galah chicks for 2025 are being introduced to us. The Sulphur Cresteds are ignoring them and hoping they’ll go away! (As does their parent!). Sound on #birds # wildlife

Windy day in our garden yesterday, strong Westerlies. Could be a very long fire season. The two eucalypts in the foreground I planted in 1998. Hopefully helps make up for the block next door which is mainly concrete and weeds. No wonder our wildlife and birds are in trouble. #birds #wildlife

It’s 30°C and one of our junior Australian Magpies is being instructed by its parent in the art of the dust bath. Sound on #birds #wildlife.

One of our parent Magpies looking like a train wreck but actually having a dust bath. The chick had been parked in the shade under a camellia just out of frame on the right but emerged to complain about lack of service! #birds #wildlife

My heart goes out to CSIRO people today who will be hearing the bad news. We need our research scientists!!
