After Daisy had moved to the Harwick line she found herself more full then ever! Lots of passengers wanted to travel between the seaside village & the big station.
She struggled on all season before the Fat Controller awarded her a second compartment to make her a proper DMU!

Ballast is a very important part of any railway. Because of this the Sodor Railway Repair was always busy checking the sleepers to make sure the ballast was in its proper place & safe for the engines to ride on. This could cause delays but the engines knew it was for their safety

The Refreshment Lady loved her mobile Tea shop. Whenever she wished to move on she would flag down a nearby engine who would gladly take her down the line to the next siding.
The passengers loved it too as many stations on the line had nowhere to buy food & drink!

"Now we shall leave you there for always, and always, and always" but his words fell on deaf ears as no one but a nearby worker could hear him...

The post train is one of the most important trains, it must get through, regardless of weather. Percy normally took it but sometimes when there was too much for him to handle Thomas would be called upon to help.
Normally he didn't mind but he hated running at night in the mist.

Edward always loved helping out on the mainline, it allowed him to see all his friends on Thomas' branchline. One day however Daisy was in a right state.
"That silly balloonist! He flys much too low & seems to enjoy making us jump!" she complained. Edward had to agree.

As the summer months rolled back around the engines were starting to struggle. The fat controller promised them he would find help & soon he brought back a farmilar face.
With a fresh engine & a somewhat better attatude, lorry 3 began helping with the good work.

Gordon had broken down so Pip & Emma, the mainland express, were allowed to run through to Tidmouth. They had never been on Sodor before & Pip was enjoying herself. Emma however felt sad.
"I wish we could run here more often" Little did she know what the future would bring...

As Rusty was doing maintenance work it happened. With a couth & a splutter the little diesel stopped. Black smoke bellowed from Rusty's engine & nothing the driver did would fix it.
"The only comfort is you stopped by the block post, we can phone for help" he told Rusty.

When the Thin Controller heard about the Talyllyn Railway celebrating its link to Sodor by painting a coach in blue he decided to return the favour! Ada was painted in a stunning red.
Even Sir Handel was happy. He was too busy posing for photos to complain about "cattle trucks"

In the summer lots of holiday makers would come to the Skarloey railway. All the engines liked to take them but Duke enjoyed it most of all.
"It reminds me of the olden days" he would explain as the passengers would listen to tales of the Mid Sodor railway as they travelled.

When Skarloey broke down he was moved to a shed out of the way & Rheneas was left to run the line alone. The coaches tried to cheer him up but with less & less passengers Rheneas felt the burden of reasonability deeply.
Non the less he continued on for Skarloey & the passengers.
