Fandom is left to bursts of hyper fixation until the “next big thing” comes around. Where before we would have the weeks months and years of content creation keeping it going. So even if people were simply jumping the band wagon there was longevity to it.

I think about this a lot.
I feel like it’s a combination of a lot of things and my personal belief is that it began with the loss of serialized releases.
Fandom space lost a lot to binge culture becoming the norm. It leaves no space for the creative outlet and community discussion.
