Working on a series of audio erasure poems using recordings of NOAA all hazards stations I made as I traveled this year. Next up, to fit with the phone phreaking poems, I'd like to do audio erasures of phone error messages (as in "The number you have dialed is no longer in service....") The snag?

I've been there enough now to know that Wyoming actually borders MT, ID, UT, CO, NE, and SD, but it still >feels< like WY also borders North Dakota, Kansas, Oregon, West Virginia, Manitoba, and, like, Liechtenstein for some reason? Especially after flying over. It's large. It's not Texas, but still

Charging radios this afternoon. Haven't bothered scanning SW bands in quite a while. AM is trashed enough with noise, even strong locals. It's the 24/7 QRM Show around here 🙄

Hey, blue sky, what Linux distros do we love? I know the obvious answer here is "go research this yourself," which I will do. I can't unWindows my PC (er, defenestrate?) until the end of the semester, but I'm looking around now. It's just . . . been a while, haha. Most recent #linux project involved

Well, here's the new Retekess V115P. My Retekess V115 still works fine. One of them does, anyway. The other had an . . . incident . . . with the USB charger port and, well, I haven't fixed that yet. Anyway, I bought this because I do actually use the V115 quite a lot to record from other radios and

My attempts at writing in different genres are being thwarted by the fact that the potential harms of technology (looking at you, LLMs) as I've been writing about in my science fiction also keep appearing in my cozy mysteries....

When you're exhausted and achy but your hobbies include listening to over-the-air recordings you made on the road for idents and things (in this case NOAA stations) so it's all good. I need to figure out a better system for recording . . . what I'm recording . . . while I'm out recording it, hah

Leftover Yorkshire pudding for breakfast is seriously most of the reason I bother to make Yorkshire pudding for dinner 🤣
It's pretty amazing for dinner, too, so there's that. No pics, because I missed that 30 second window where it's impressively inflated. One day, I'll actually get a pic of that.

Just once, instead of a "friendly" reminder, I want someone to email me with any different kind of reminder. I will accept "grouchy reminder," "indifferent reminder," "passive aggressive reminder,' and possibly "a reminder that carries with it the rage of a thousand angry wasps descending upon you."

Retro-tech thoughts: Had an odd realization years ago that 80s kid me who was fascinated by tiny TVs would have geeked out over watching videos on my phone. Current me hasn't watched TV in a good decade, has no plans to, and really really does not want to do so on a phone screen....

So far, I've had a positive experience with bsky. Would love a couple things: first, make the media settings sticky so I don't have autoplaying videos autoplaying at me when I log in again. And second: more reactions. "Heart," but also, "sad," "what?," "care," "is that a spider," and "nope nope nope

In "new adventures" this morning: managed to release a yellow jacket wasp that was flying around the house. This was an "open the door and hope from across the room" operation, not, as I do with spiders, a gentle "here, climb up on this paper towel so I can release you into the wild" maneuver.

So, I write cozy mysteries, but unlike most cozies, the crimes are property crimes or, if there are victims who are physically harmed in some way, they all survive. And spouse gave me one possible name while reaching for the word "cozy" but landing on "comfy" instead, which works, but, hear me out:

In "concepts we need" news: where you send your family on a lovely week-long vacation somewhere nice so you can solo rage clean the house? Is there a Norwegian word for this? If not, can there be? I like the people in the house. I just can't solo rage clean when there are other people in the house 🤣
