I - one of God's Perfect Creatures - was completely incapacitated all day by a migraine because a bright light shone in my eye at an oblique angle.

Solidarity to everyone else who chose a massive 3 in 1 Lego set to give as a gift to a little one, was told to build it, and then told to build it as a different one on Boxing Day. I hope you found appropriate substitutions for all the pieces you couldn't find.

Midcentury American environmentalism and safety practices. Remember to think through littering, as well as when running engines in your basement.

You make a prototype, then a second that is refined and addresses shortcomings. But you have an affinity for the first one because it was the first time you saw what you envisioned, even though you have made a second that is objectively better and a more mature development of the idea.

I don't know when I started tipping my phone away on potentially-frightening videos, or scrolling the video up so there is just a sliver visible (if the app allows), but I lived through the jump-scare era and learned defenses. It does something and stops the video (or jump) from being scary.

Duolingo is very proscriptive about when the end of the day is for a company with an owl mascot. Midnight is early for nightOWLS and I still want my streak.

When you pull 500+ pounds of clay out of your garden, strain it, and store it - then lose momentum on the project you end up trying to find ways to use clay in every subsequent project.

All of which is under explored territory.

He's just a mean fucker. If there is some story in canon that he was going to graduate the Imperial Academy bottom of his class so he drugged his rival ahead of an exam so he'd at least be second from the bottom I would believe it.

He's interesting because he's likely where he is by being very smart, clever, and extremely vicious. The first people he buried were other Imperials who threatened him, and he did it by ratfucking them. Not through direct conflict. Nor by being effectively some demigod (Vader).

I do like Krennic in that he is physically very slightly built and small. He's not a massive presence. And he really comes off as someone who is where he is because he is welding the bureaucracy - not forming it around him.

maybe that's because George Lucas doesn't get politics or the stories that can be told in international (intergalactic) standoffs and cold wars. That I've got faith and also just love Mendelsohn's portrayal of this guy and trust him to all but literally read the phone book?

I really think there is a market for a website where you type in a home/apartment address and it tells you if there has ever been a murder conviction tied to that house.

Getting vaccines (flu + COVID) gives you the good parts of getting sick - sore and creaky in a cozy way, relishing getting under a comforter and stretching and feeling it warm up - that gives you a free evening as Frog and Toad.

Writing is so intimidating for many reasons and knowing you're going to be psychoanalyzed by everyone that reads it is a big one. Listen, these are not MY weird sexual peccadillos. They are the weird sexual peccadillos of my characters ... in a work of fiction ... says so on the cover.
