Internet traffic in the Leiria and Santarém regions remains 10–20% below normal since Jan 28. After Storm Kristin, additional storms have hit Portugal, slowing power-line repairs and keeping connectivity unstable.

Peak Starlink (AS14593) traffic in Portugal was recorded this past week, driven by heavier use after the Jan 28 impact of Storm Kristin. In the week ending Feb 8, Starlink traffic rose 15% week over week, 23% from mid-January, and 30% above the best week of 2025 (Nov 18).

Aggregated DNS traffic to social media platforms grew slowly in the 1st half. Users stopped scrolling to watch the halftime show, but came right back once it was over, causing a traffic spike. Smaller spikes were seen at the end of the 3rd quarter & after a Patriots touchdown.

Aggregated DNS traffic across sports betting domains grew into the start of the game, then declined during the 1st half, with a halftime lull clearly visible. Traffic spiked in response to the Seahawks' 1st touchdown and the Patriots only touchdown.

#SuperBowlLX featured many creative ads, and as we have done in the past, we used aggregated, anonymized 1.1.1.1 DNS Resolver traffic to identify some of the most popular ones. Traffic growth was calculated by comparing request volume to a pre-game average baseline.

Today marks 4 weeks since the #Internet disruption in #Iran began. While traffic to Cloudflare has returned to pre-shutdown levels over the last several days, general Internet connectivity remains filtered and limited by allowlists.

Problems on Ukraine's grid have caused power outages impacting Kyiv & Kharkiv, as well as neighboring Moldova. This has caused #Internet traffic from those locations to drop as much as 46% as compared to last week.

After 58 hours, Storm Kristin’s impact in Portugal is still being felt, with power and Internet disruptions continuing in some regions. Traffic in Leiria is now about 40% lower than usual, and in Santarém about 30% lower. The Coimbra region has mostly recovered.

Three full weeks into the shutdown and after several false starts, #Internet traffic from #Iran has continued to flow over the last two days. However, volume remains lower, and patterns less regular, than pre-shutdown, suggesting continued filtering.

Storm Kristin’s impact in Portugal is still being felt after 24 hours, with power and Internet disruptions affecting several regions. Santarém and Coimbra are now closer to normal levels, but the Leiria region (“distrito”) is still at around half of its usual traffic.

With the shutdown closing in on 3 full weeks, #Internet traffic is again growing in #Iran. After a brief return on Monday, we again see traffic from MCCI, IranCell, and TCI. However, past growth has returned to near-zero traffic levels after several hours.
