When physicists say that space-time “exists,” they are often working within a framework that has quietly blurred the line between existence and occurrence.

Is space-time structure, substance or metaphor?
What does it really mean to say that space-time exists? What kind of thing is it? Does it exist in the same way the galaxy exists?

My PhD co-supervisor and mentor, Jesús Zamora, has coordinated a symposium on the most discussed recent book against free will. As an advocate of the open future, I naturally oppose such determinism. That’s why this issue of Teorema will be so valuable to me. A truly fascinating topic! 📖
