Your impromptu host for the night... Me!

I was only supposed to be sitting back and enjoying listening to some awesome poetry, yet here I am, working again 😂

Thank you to all of the poets for your words and for making my unexpected job so easy. And thank you to Blue Sheep for hosting us again!

This month I have:
Performed at Yes We Cant (hosted by @pandemonialists.bsky.social)
Hosted @voicespoetry.bsky.social
Hosted Blue Sheep's open mic
Confirmed that my knee is damaged and booked in to get it sorted
Celebrated my best mate's 30th
Currently driving NC500

Busy month and I love it!

It's true. I am indeed useless.
I'll blame the knee pain (still ongoing) and the wife (always a fella's first port of call to pass the blame (sorry)).
We are still here, alive and kicking!
Ryan's just useless at keeping on top of all the socials 🤦🏻‍♂️
The writing prompts for May were created and never posted across any of the platforms, so they will be up shortly, as will the call for open mic performers at the next Voices from the Fountain!

Really quite annoyed at this whole getting older lark. I started running to help me get my fitness levels back after my illness last year, only for my knee to give out. Again.
Apparently I'm not bulletproof at all...

I had such a blast trying some new material tonight at Press Books and Coffee. It's one of my favourite places to hear and perform poetry.

I am, and always will be, convinced that NOBODY knows how to properly fold a bed sheet...

I'm super excited to host @voicespoetry.bsky.social at the Fountain Inn tonight - our headliner is the AMAZING David Braziel and we have some wonderful open mic performers booked in too!
Lineups like tonight make my job SO easy!

I'm super excited to be hosting Voices with David headlining!
He's beaten me twice at slams, and wowed me at other open mics, and now I get to introduce him to our audience (and get some semblance of revenge for him beating me at the slams 😉)!
April 1st, we are joined by the amazing David Braziel as our headline poet!
We have a number of open mic slots available, let us know if you want in!
March 24, 2025 at 10:09 PM
I shall be there for sure! Will I have a poem written for it? We shall see... 👀😂
One week today! 😊
March's helping of PASTA is on its way... The theme this month? First album. Tell us about the music, your fashion sense, your friends, your hopes, your regrets... See you at the Arena Theatre on the 18th!

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
But who's to say that a woodchuck would chuck wood, even if the woodchuck could?
How much wood could a woodchuck chuck..? Hmmm, I wonder??

I didn't feel the best yesterday, but having the pleasure of hosting Voices from the Fountain and hearing so many amazing local performers made me feel so much better. Huge thank you to everyone who came and made the night so amazing!
Head to @voicespoetry.bsky.social for details of the next event!

I've had a great couple of days in London, but being back at work today was tough (and wet). But I've also done my first run since signing up for my first 10km event - in London - to raise money for @cancerresearchuk.org next February!

All I really want is to live on a farm and to write and perform poetry and look after a few goats and highland cows. Oh, and a donkey.
Is that really too much to ask for??

I have met so many amazing people through Voices. I'll be eternally grateful for the platform Ian gave me to find my own voice, and now to help others to do the same.
I love you all, my weird poetry family.
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Our two main loves
Are poetry and you!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
💚

A mix of romance and dick jokes... What else could be expected of me a few days out from Valentine's Day?
February 12, 2025 at 9:41 PM
I'm really looking forward to performing again tonight. It's like an itch that needs to be scratched 😂
Anyone willing to fund me doing a mini tour??

Open mic at Blue Sheep Books tomorrow and then appearing on Black Country Xtra on Sunday, with Valentine's Day in the middle... I wonder what poems I'll be performing..?
February 11, 2025 at 5:11 PM
For anyone interested, I'm taking up a position as the poet in residence at Central Perk. Gunther doesn't know yet, but he'll be fine with it... Probably.
Voices from Central Perk does have quite the ring though, right? The one with all the poetry?

Today marks 12 months since my admission to ICU. Today marks 12 months since I almost didn't make it through the night. Today marks 12 months since my wife nearly became a widow in her early thirties.

But today also marks 12 months since I said no, I'm not finished here yet, let's keep going.

I am super excited for the first Voices from the Fountain of the year tonight. I can't wait to see and hear the amazing talent we have behind our mic again. It feels like ages since we were last there!
