Revisiting has confirmed that I will continue to suggest it. Not only is it chock full of heat, but it's also a well-written book with characters that are easy to love, like, hate, etc. -- Book quote 'Gah. My body aches with unfulfilled need. I hope I put fresh batteries in my Rabbit.' -- Makayla Delaney Max (Torment) Huntington and Makayla (Mac, Doc) Delaney made me laugh, cry, want to bonk someone, and so much more. The drama going on in their lives and around them kept me invested. Quick note on triggers: they are definitely there - DV, general violence, self-harm, threats of SA, etc. Please consider if you have any. I read along with the audio book for my re-read. I like the narrator, Lucy Rivers, for Makayla, but I really wish this was in duet with a male narrator. Also, a few mispronunciations drove me crazy (Sergio, Muay Thai), but it was otherwise a decent listen. Story: 5 stars Narration: 3.5 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x

I eventually came to like her, but she had to work for it. As for Jesse, I liked learning about his past and seeing him get closure. He does come across as a kicked puppy a few times, but I loved how he was able to find his way out of it and into the light. I appreciated that his team found different ways to help when he had flashbacks. Then, there were his alpha tendencies. Ooh-la-la. When those came out... *sigh* He pushed Phoebe's boundaries in delectable ways. Oh, that man. ❤️‍🔥😍 -- Book quote 'He took a deep breath. There came a time when a man had to choose. He chose her.' -- Jesse Murdoch One of my favorite parts was the "peace agreement" that Tennessee Smith and Ian Taggart came to after Ten severely overstepped. It's hilarious! 😂🤜👏 The blend of humor, heat, and action make this series a must-read. I can't wait to see what comes next for this rag-tag group of former spies and operatives. One quick note, there are triggers to beware of, like violence and torture. I simply love Ryan West, the narrator. The series was good. The stories were related but varied enough that I wasn't bored, and I may have added a new book boyfriend or two to my collection. 😘❤️‍🔥 It was great seeing bits and pieces of the Kingston / Dare families along the way. No prior reading was required, but there were a few minor spoilers. The cast of narrators are, in no particular order, Alex Knox, Isabelle Turner, Lee Samuels, Connor Crais, Angelina Rocca, John Lane, and Samantha Cook. I've enjoyed most of these narrators before but liked getting to listen to some new ones, too. One thing I really loved was that each book had a different set of voices, which made it easy to binge the entire series. Angelina was in two of the books but with different male counterparts, so it still felt different. Story: 4-4.5 stars Narration: 4-4.5 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x

For me, 2025 was a bit disappointing. There were several wonderful memories made, but the crap in the world offset a lot of that joy.

It turned out to be a pretty decent choice. This was initially published more than three decades ago, and technology changes aside, the story still holds up. Kit Anderson and Noah Trayhern, Kit's new boss and roommate, have a rocky start with good chemistry. Even though sparks fly, they're initially because Kit is battling misogyny from her new boss. I do like that she lets him know that she won't accept that from him. She's a fighter, but she's running out of steam after many years undercover. I do appreciate that he recognizes it and helps her let go. The book doesn't consistently keep to a POV, switching between paragraphs on more than one occasion. I may not have gotten overly invested in the story, I liked it enough. I borrowed the audio book. Johanna Parker is a good narrator, but a counterpart would've been nice. I had some suspicions about the identity of our serial killer. The way it's revealed had my heart in my throat. I'm pretty sure it was followed by an audible gasp. I look forward to seeing if "crazy" Irene's visions for some current and possibly future residents work out. Also, one of the many reasons I love Bliss is the vast number of selfless beings. Nell made me cry. Caleb and Alexei had me laughing. Max and Rye are a riot (when I'm not itching to biff them). The list goes on. Each situation is traumatic, so please consider that when reading. -- Book quote 'Uma was inside. It should have been comforting, the knowledge that she was locked away, safely hidden. So why did she feel as though she’d jumped from the fire right back into the frying pan?' -- Uma Crane In many regards, I like their crazy, messed up story. The OCD agoraphobe can be a bit much to take in, and the flow stutters a few times. Otherwise, it is very realistic and gritty with steam, exploration, and some interesting revelations. I read along with the audio book. The new-to-me narrator, Wendy Tremont King, is pretty good. I can’t for the life of me figure out if this is really a date or if he’s just trying to help me make friends.' -- Haley Parker I like the general premise, and the twist with a misunderstanding is entertaining, but I was happy to move through this with some skimming. Ted Jones does prove to be oblivious to some social cues. While those are usually funny, I didn't find the same with Haley Parker's lack of situational awareness. I read along with the audio book.
