We've got a probable #midden (historical rubbish pile) in the south of the new trench, so we have decided to break it into quarters to investigate. In the second picture, you can see we have created four quadrants and begun to excavate.

Jack is excavating a sondage (mini-trench) next to the wall stump to give us a better idea of whether it's partially #medieval and #Victorian, or simply mostly Victorian. We have gotten some green glazed pottery sherds! #13thcentury
