Move fast and break democracy
Marc Andreessen, who runs one of the biggest Silicon Valley venture capital firms, wrote a "manifesto" today labeling “social responsibility" and "tech ethics" teams "the enemy."

His firm, a16z, recently pivoted from crypto/NFTs/Web3 to American military and defense contractor technology.

Twitter / X is serving users with a new ad format that can't be blocked or reported

the ads aren't even actual X posts & aren't connected to any X accounts. they do not disclose that they are ads

it appears the ads are connected to clickbait ad networks

Currently reading Tender is the Flesh because I enjoy feeling sick to my stomach and never want to look at food the same way again!

Throwback to one of my favorite bookbinding projects (2020). I still can't bring myself to write in this one, it's too beautiful.

Your comment offered no valuable contribution to this discourse, but if you'd still like to make a real impact, Jen shared her Venmo a few posts back.

The Daily Tar Heel is the independent student newspaper for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

their front page for 8/30 is texts sent and received by students during the active shooter lockdown. absolutely stunning.

One of the best things about being on Bluesky is that there are no ads (yet). Even when I'm scrolling through Reddit, every fourth post is an ad for a Jesus sub. Really wondering what data they collected on me that put me in that target demo.

I don't think this is exactly what you're looking for, but it also sounds a lot like "Galatea" by Madeline Miller.

I joined Twitter in 2014 because I was chosen for a social media internship at NASA and it was awkward that I didn't have an account to tweet from. At the time I had the dumbest smartphone in existence and 1x service. A lot has changed in the last 9 years.
