In 2016, Ontario passed legislation for the first week of November to be known as Treaties Recognition Week. In partnership with the Archives of Ontario, the Daniel George MacMartin Diary was on display for dignitaries and visitors alongside the original Treaty 9 document.

In 2016, Ontario passed legislation for the first week of November to be known as Treaties Recognition Week. This week was developed to highlight the importance of treaties and provide further education on treaty rights and relationships. This year, Queen’s University Archives was invited to participate in Treaties week events at Queen’s Park in the Lieutenant-Governor’s suite. In partnership with the Archives of Ontario, the Daniel George MacMartin Diary was on display for dignitaries and visitors alongside the original Treaty 9 document.

V28 Stud-74 Queen’s University Homecoming can strike both joy and fear into the hearts of Kingstonians, but the nearly 100-year-old celebration is still going strong. The first Queen’s University Homecoming occurred in 1926 and attracted 870 alumni from the classes of 1874 to 1926.[i] The tradition most attendees look forward to is the Tricolour Guard Halftime Parade.

43rd Annual Archives Lecture
The Queen’s University Archives Annual Archives Lecture began in 1983 with a presentation on The Monk Gibbon Papers by Dr. Norman H. MacKenzie. Since then, the lecture has highlighted the archival collections which are held by the University and has served as a public forum to disseminate and discuss the research that is, or has been, carried out using those collections.
