I built a new tool for examining heliacal risings/settings that will be in the next update of @nechepso-tmt.bsky.social. I was playing around with it & found something pretty wild. Look at the date Mars made its astronomical heliacal rising in Philadelphia in 1776!

Had a blast at the Kepler College 25th Anniversary Symposium. It was great to see old friends, hang out with Rick Levine and show off Nechepso. Also, I came in first place in the astro trivia competition and won this sweet mug, my chalice of triumph, my goblet of victory.

A bald eagle flew overhead as @watsonfinastro.bsky.social and I were walking. It was pretty close to us and was quite a sight. "Maybe this is another one of our animal eclipse omens" I said. A second later, the eagle crossed in front of the sun as its shadow fell over us.

Well if this big stuck boat in Detroit is anything like the Suez canal stuck boat then the very latest it should still be stuck is June 4th-6th due to the Moon being full and close to perigee on those dates. This isn't even astrological, this is just astro-geophysical.
