Rolin said that he made minor changes in season 2. And I tend to agree. The trial isn’t SO different from the books, when keeping Louis’ POV. I am, however, confident they’ll revisit bits of it through Lestat. It’s simply his story to tell.

I hope it’s us! However, 8 episodes for a mashup of TVL and QOTD (present timeline) is wildly ambitious. They should definitely split it into two seasons, or have a longer one.

Highly probable.
I think it’s exactly what Lestat says, he gave him to Armand. I think that Armand promised to get Louis out of Paris alive if Lestat went along with The Trial, and I think Lestat in his hubris believed he could find a way to save both Louis and Claudia.
