The rhetoric on Democrats losing the shutdown battle is wrong.

We can’t have people miss out on food assistance, workers go unpaid in exchange for healthcare.

Congress needs to figure out healthcare without US citizens being used as leverage.

Democrats lose shutdown battle — as Trump, Republicans risk losing war
Democrats are embroiled in a new round of infighting, while Republicans are bracing for longer-term consequences if they continue to oppose an extension of Obamacare subsidies.

The Trump administration has zero idea of what reality is like for the average American and his holding back SNAP is another sign of his priorities.

US federal employees have gone 35 days without pay and the response from the Trump White House is to threaten federal employees to withhold pay? What a troll…

Administration hints furloughed workers may not be paid after shutdown
Agencies are sending messages indicating that workers who are on the job will be paid when the government reopens — with no mention of those on furlough, despite a 2019 law protecting their wages.

Having a grad school supervisor that is available and engaged in a student’s career is healthy? Don’t say!

Finding the right lab environment & PI that fits your personality is essential (use those rotations!), but so is having someone to talk things through.
