My great-grand-uncle Will was born in 1859 in Hardin County, IA, on a night so cold that a pumpkin at the fireplace was frozen on one side and baked on the other. He never married, becoming a poet and teacher. I had fun digging into his story. #familyhistory #historysky #genealogy #poetry #substack

My great-aunt was living in Tehran in October, 1967, when the Shah held an opulent coronation ceremony. She captured pictures of the lights and decorations, and saved a newspaper commemorating the event. So interesting to have a window into this time and place! #tehran #shah #iran #familyhistory
