I don’t follow sports so spent a few minutes very confused as to why everyone was talking about the 18th century novel “Caleb Williams” by (Mary Shelley’s father) William Godwin

One of the best things about being a short dude is that when I tell another guy my height, there’s a good chance he’ll say, “Are you sure, cuz I’m 5’11” and I’m not that much taller than you.” For a moment, I have the ability to destroy him, but I always choose mercy and just change the subject.

My mayor told me police keep killing his constituents so I asked how many constituents he has and he said he just gives the police more money for training afterwards so I said it sounds like he’s just paying the police to kill his constituents and then Matt Yglesias started crying.

Posting history of most centrist pundits:

He won’t try to overturn the election

They won’t overturn Roe

He won’t pardon the insurrectionists

He won’t do mass deportation

He won’t go after the Fed

He won’t attack Venezuela

Why are people nicer to me on Twitter?

Sharing all the deep Scott Adams lore in the group chat, exciting to see which detail breaks which friend

I don't think I've seen anyone else suggest this, but I think a substantial factor in Gen X being the most pro-Trump cohort is undergoing midlife crises in the years leading up to 2016.

People whose only idea for decades has been “give the police more money for training”: oh dear, if only your slogan were better we’d have done something impactful. I guess we have to settle for giving the police more money for training. This is your fault, for having a bad slogan.

Barring some exogenous event, the violent repression by ICE and CBP will keep ramping up. There are two outcomes: the people are crushed by masked thugs, or the thugs are pushed out by force. Nat’l and state dems have no strategy but to delay either outcome and hope things work themselves out. (1/2)

Right wing media will use any activity or speech they don’t like as a bad faith attack against an entire movement. They have convinced a significant number of centrists and dems that a protest is only valid if this doesn’t happen. Those centrists then become unpaid enforcers for Fox News.

I I had a nickel for every time a British newspaper wrote a story about me and misspelled my last name in a way it’s never been misspelled before, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice.

Even if you put in the correct quote, the AI overview gives a misquotation.

Watching the new Running Man, and it seems like a mistake to have Glenn Powell act against Lee Pace, who naturally has the type of star power that they desperately want us to believe Powell has.

The protein folding program isn’t consciously folding proteins, the weather analyzing program isn’t consciously analyzing weather, so why would we conclude that the text generating program is consciously generating text?

As a kid, my sister had a Beanie Baby cat that she would not go to sleep without. It was such an issue that my parents bought a duplicate so whenever she couldn’t find it at bedtime, they would bring out the duplicate and find the original later. And yet y’all insist Beanie Babies are a bubble?

An American remake of Kimiko the Treasure Hunter, but instead of a Japanese woman and the end of Fargo, it’s an American man and the end of Decision to Leave

One way to think about the split in the democratic coalition, is tension between those asking “How do we stop tech billionaires from buying elections” and those asking “How do we convince the tech billionaires to buy us the election.”

The latest Mark Cuban thing finally got me to write out some of my ideas about social media. The central theme being that there’s a conflict between people who think the point is to be social, and people who think the point is to do politics.

most "centrist" pundits: This photo makes the protestors look bad. I must share and comment on this photo. I am anti-Trump, which is why I will only talk about the photos that I believe benefit Trump. I won't show ICE running over protestors or LAPD shooting a journalist, bc I am good at optics.

This is fun, same question on google, “What did [actor name]’s character do in the movie Angry Barista?” with three completely different types of ai answer. James Caan, and it just describes Thief. Tom Cruise, it makes up a short film. Frank Sinatra, no such film exists

I cannot think of a more on the nose example of tortious interference than illegally canceling payments between two parties. There should be suits against Musk in an individual capacity filed yesterday
