The National Renewable Energy Laboratory has laid off at least 114 employees, affecting research and operations, illustrating a federal policy shift away from combating climate change to pretending it doesn't exist, by prioritizing fossil fuels over renewable energy, which is cheap and clean.

Energy Star was an initiative that certified energy-efficient appliances and buildings. This decision is part of a larger "reorganization," which dissolves the Office of Atmospheric Protection. Energy Star has reduced energy costs for consumers and greenhouse gas emissions since 1992.
