The characters Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney made their debut on ABC’s "Happy Days" in 1975. Less than three months later, their popularity led to the spinoff "Laverne & Shirley," which premiered on January 27, 1976, and quickly soared to the top of the ratings.
