Richard David Wolff is an American Marxian economist known for his work on economic methodology and class analysis. He is a professor emeritus of economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a visiting professor in the graduate program in international affairs at The New School. Wolff has also taught economics at Yale University, City College of New York, University of Utah, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, and The Brecht Forum in New York City. .. more

#WolffBites: USSR's decline left US empire to reach its peak. World's central banks exchanged gold for US dollar treasuries. As US empire goes into decline after 2000 and China rises.... Those banks shift back from US treasuries to gold.

#WolffBites: The biggest threat to US capitalism is this inequality: 20% richest do 59% of total consumer spending that keeps economy going, but poorest 80% do only 41% of spending. Capitalism keeps producing the inequality that destroys it.

Big US bank CEOs denounce plans to cap credit card interest rates at 10%/year (instead of 22%/year now). If such caps happen, banks threaten to withdraw credit cards from millions. Will we let banks keep ripping us off by blocking caps?
