Largely yes
I don't know who needs to hear this, but if all you have accomplished thus far in 2026 is reading several books, drinking multiple pots of tea, and consuming a scandalous amount of chocolate croissants, then you have accomplished more than enough.

Only in the winter when people in our street don’t want to risk going out in the ice. I provide the dominoes a bit of cake and a drink drink. Cheap entertainment and it keeps the old brains working by the way at least one other woman comes.
I love the sound of the old gentleman's dominoes club!

@lthechat.bsky.social A6. If you’re going to consult, don’t sell yourself too cheap.Your day rate should be no less than 1/100 of your last salary because nobody wants to work more than 300 days a year & every day of consultancy takes a day prep and a day follow up/travel.

@lthechat.bsky.social A2 people always tell you from the institutional perspective that it’s not personal but it blooming well feels like like it

#lthechat sorry to be late to the party but I’ve been running an old gentleman‘s dominoes club as I do in the winter every other week. A5 keeping up momentum is really hard and it helps clarify what you really want and possibly more importantly, what you don’t want

I’ve been volunteering with little readers for 12+ years but today was my first ever encounter with a full on nose bleed. Quite alarming

This is a great blog and I can echo many of the key points. It’s a chat not to be missed even if redundancy isn’t on your horizon
This is definitely a chat I aim to participate in: I was made effectively redundant twice and I’ve given loads of people advice on getting through that period since
This week we will feature @hopkinsdavid.bsky.social exploring

Redundancy, Resilience, and Finding What’s Next

Sending love and positivity sue
Following an early morning phone call from my Dad, finding Mum collapsed semi conscious on the floor, spent most of the day in A&E and finally getting her on a ward 7 hours later. Life is so fragile.

#lthechat A6 we’ve got to make technology the servant rather than the master of learning enhancement like @markglynn.bsky.social does

Absolutely true
A5 we ran a workshop today that touched on workload, we said developing good quality content upfront will take time, however, it will be a smarter approach, because once a piece of good quality content is done, it can be reused for a few years and/or across different cohorts/modules. #LTHEchat

A4 Too often in the past people have said as they are PG they don’t really need help as they know what they are doing
January 7, 2026 at 8:39 PM
Yes I realized that as soon as I had posted!
Don't forget the hashtag #LTHEchat 😀

No one ever wants to be lowest do they? Isn’t it devaluing bronze?
Q1. What do you think the new "lowest rating" rule means for how we prioritise our work? #LTHEchat

Hello Sally Brown and Phil Race here from a snowy Newcastle. Actually, the recent snow has defrosted but we are expecting more tonight. Too icy to venture far.
Hello, and welcome to this evening’s #LTHEChat. Here early? Say hello and introduce yourself and tell us where you're joining from.

If you've got a cuppa what's your fav biscuit to dunk?! 😀 #LTHEchat

You might like to look at our sixth edition of the Lecturers Toolkit out this year where we use as a framework @philrace.bsky.social ‘s very well established learning model
I think I have a solution: Let's start with Inclusive Teaching by @kellyhogan.bsky.social and @vijisathy.bsky.social who describe how structured active learning makes inclusion, equity, accommodation, and compassion happen so more students will be more successful [Freeman et al. 2014] /fin

LTHEchat 348: Navigating the New OfS Quality Era and What It Means for Students, Staff, and the Sector
The Office for Students’ (OfS) latest proposal represents a significant shift in how teaching quality and student outcomes will be assessed. The message is clear: every higher education provider will be pulled into a single, integrated quality-assessment system that blends the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) with core regulatory conditions. For the sector, it’s a moment of scrutiny, but also a chance to rethink how we support students.

I used to be 5 foot but I’m shrinking! I’ve just had my kitchen remodelled to mean that I can reach everything! Fabulous! You lose a bit of cupboard space but it makes it manageable
When we had a kitchen fitted, we did get the counter raised by an inch, and it caused no end of problems because all the units were too short. Behold the piece of MDF I had to order when I finally realised why the dishwasher kept rocking back and forth.
