And I tried to go 48 hours without math and couldn’t do it. I stepped out my front door and saw a dog, then 2 dogs—game over right there.

Maximizing benefits and minimizing risks sounds great until you realize many things benefit some people while harming others---does that count as a benefit or a risk?

This max'ing stuff is a marketing slogan that masks the true complexities and tradeoffs.

One thing I love about doing podcast/media interviews is getting to know the interviewers. Always fun, but sometimes we click so well it feels like the beginning of a friendship. I had this w/ Hussein Al-Baiaty of #RisingAuthors, much fun meeting and chatting books.

I'm really excited about this upcoming event!

There's lots of opportunities to hear authors talk about their work, but here we also go the behind-the-scenes: how to become a pop math/science author, what works, what doesn't---lots of tips and stories on becoming a writer!

"The number of daily ChatGPT messages is set to outpace the number of Google searches per day in about a year’s time."

What do we think of this?

Hey readers, Shayna here. This past weekend, I went to a Western-themed bachelor party and asked ChatGPT to give me some “actually funny cowboy names” for a game. This makes me one of ChatGPT’s more than 750 million weekly active users, aka users who sent at least one message in the past week. That’s almost 10 percent of the world’s entire population.

Something exciting is brewing this October at @fieldsinstitute.bsky.social. Think #math, books, and the stories behind them.

Anthony Bonato, @profnoahgian.bsky.social, and I are co-organizing a celebration of popular mathematics, featuring authors who have turned big ideas into page-turning reads.
