Our institute, the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology at @freieuniversitaet.bsky.social is at risk due to budget cuts. In current times where we need more and not less critical social scientific perspectives, this is horrible, but also not entirely surprising news. Please spread the word!

Das BMBF hat geprüft, ob es Hochschulangestellten der FU Berlin, die politische Erklärungen unterschrieben haben, deshalb Fördermittel entziehen kann. Der Mailwechsel dazu ist dokumentiert. Falls noch jemand Illusionen darüber hatte, was das Ministerium unter Wissenschaftsfreiheit versteht.

When in the North… im Theater Bremen läuft gerade „Happy Nights“ zu Sexarbeit (und mit Sexarbeiter*innen). Am 21.10. darf ich davor an einem Gespräch zu Sex/Arbeit, Migration und Kapitalismus teilnehmen und nach der 20.30 Vorstellung bin ich auch beim Publikumsgespräch dabei!

Got invited to discuss my research on sex work and migration from „Eastern Europe“ today with social workers from the „Mobile Teams“ program which provides support in rural areas of Baden-Württemberg, online, as I’m at the other end of 🇩🇪 for fieldwork, interesting nevertheless!
