Idahoan 🥔 living in Finland 🇫🇮, working at Hamina Wireless. CWNE #233. I'm into old computers, retro videogames, 3D printing, and fixing stuff.
I have a product that I love. It failed outside of warranty. I emailed their support asking if there was anything I could do to fix it myself. They just issued a replacement item.

Or, I could have publicly flamed them on social media. That would have shown them!

This weekend, I worked on my Helsinki Regional Transit Departures app for #Pebble. Coming soon:

🚋 Toggles between route number and destination with a short timer!

🚌 No longer constrained to just Helsinki; will support all of 🇫🇮 Finland and 🇪🇪 Estonia, since they use the same API!

LLM be like, "Yo dawg. I heard you like functions and methods, so I put a method inside a function so you can call the method with a function."

Lately when text chatting with friends, instead of wasting electricity on AI image generation, I've just been saying:

"Imagine me Scrooge McDuck diving into a pit full of identical multi-port USB-PD power adapters."

Saves electricity, but burns glucose. I wonder which is worse.

Dad had a 386 running Windows 3.1. Playing this and Skifree are some of very, very first memories of using a computer and playing video games of any kind.

New: we've obtained material explaining how an ICE surveillance system, called Webloc, works. Draw shape on a map, see all phones available there, follow them home. All without warrant

Back at work for two days; already struggling with wrist pain from mouse and keyboard work.

Mechanical split keyboard, ergonomic trackball mouse from Logitech. Not sure what else I can improve.

I randomly stumbled across @tantacrul.bsky.social's video about Audacity 4. Two thoughts:

1. Wow. Audacity 4 Alpha 2 is shockingly easy to use. My go-to, starting now.

2. As a product manager on hiatus, this video is a masterclass in UI/UX design for mature apps.

New app for Pebble smartwatches! Punchclock is a simple "how long did I work" calculator. This is my first app that also supports Pebble Time Round and Pebble Time 2.

Today's Pebble dev project: supporting all of the #Pebble screen sizes and shapes. Pebble Time 2 still needs some work but the groundwork is there.

My wife (@thelinengirl.bsky.social) knocked Christmas out of the park (again), this time with a custom-made Macintosh 128k LEGO kit designed by Chris McVeigh (chrismcveigh.com)!

The logic board, analog board, floppy drive, flyback transformer… it’s all there! The accuracy and detail is insane.

The Macintosh Classic II might not be the *best* black-and-white compact Mac, but it is the *best looking*.

Even Duolingo has iconography on Pebble now! Excellent! @ericmigi.com is this coming from Pebble-Dev? Planning to add more? These icons are one of my favorite things about Pebble.

Nothing makes me feel like an information security expert like explaining what a "factor" is in authentication (something you know, something you are, something you have).

I'm an idiot when it comes to infosec, btw.

I'm thinking about replacing my aging Mac Mini with a proper NAS. Primary use cases:

🔄 Time Machine backups
▶️ Plex
📷 Immich (interested)
📂 Files
🌍 Webserver (local network only)

I'm in a "buy it once, buy it right" mood.

I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that I accidentally clicked "Schedule a meeting" in Outlook. The good news is that it didn't work.

Working on a jig to cut the glue on Pebble Classic for battery replacements. Here’s the very first prototype, but dental floss breaks immediately. Fishing line, maybe?

Finally playing Halo Infinite.

✅ Open-world concept (Halo: CE lvl 2) rocks
✅ Great gunplay
✅ Solid enemy art + behavior
✅ Vehicle handling feels good
✅ The Weapon is a fun character
🚫 Unfaithful vehicle and weapon art style + sound
🚫 Combat readability impaired by art style
🚫 Overdone voice acting
