Brought the new year in with my baby. Had 3 dozen flowers delivered on NYE. Bought her sephora cart. Now her anklets are on the way. I miss kissing her hands and her wrists. That's the only thing missing from this year so far.

My grandma and her siblings each have about 20-30 men and women that they share no blood relation with... that refer to them as auntie, uncle, or mama or pops. They send them wedding invites, Christmas cards, and stop by to check on them when they visit town. I've seen it with my own eyes how

Them real elders that were a cornerstone of communities. The Mr. & Mrs. Jackson's, the Mr. & Mrs. Johnsons, the Mr. & Mrs. Pittmans and the like...we are losing them. There aren't too many left. Those people took care of whole communities. Looked out for whole generations. Love them. Cherish them.
