Anyways I have a million other things to say about the FDS chapter but almost all of them are negative. I cannot stop thinking about it and it makes me physically nauseous. The only other manga chapter that I've felt that way about, ZUN's work or otherwise, is LE chapter 50. So I will stop for now.

This is literally the exact same thing that happened in the IN arc. It was lazy and nonsensical then, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt since it was during that awkward transition to the new artist. But repeating it just implies that Satori is a complete idiot who doesn't learn anything.

I thought that Satori not having a bodyguard with her was meant to show how she's grown and is more independent now but apparently not. ZUN wanted to fuck her over and realized it would be impossible if someone else was there, so he just had her inexplicably be alone

I am going to stop being negative about touhou for the next while, but one last thing. Where is Orin? Why is literally every single UFO and TD character crammed into these tiny chapters but Orin is just written out? There is no reason why she wouldn't be here other than writing convenience

That's all I really had to say. This isn't me being a hater or anything. I like most of them a lot, especially Murasa, Shou and Nue. Just felt like ruminating on them a bit as they've always felt a bit less popular than the other groups and I wanted to try and explain why.

Byakuren's most interesting relationship is with Miko, Ichirin's is with Futo, and Kyouko's is with Mystia. Why do they not interact with each other. Byakuren doesn't really have an interesting dynamic with any of her followers other than possibly Nue, which is pretty much 100% inferred anyway

Also the group is just too damn big. Kyouko is a fun character, but tacking her on to such a large existing cast doesn't do much for them or her. Plus there's a bunch of like, part-time members? Joon, Kokoro, Kogasa, Koishi, Mamizou. It's just way, way too many.

The one interesting relationship at play is Murasa/Nue but it is also bafflingly, one we've never actually seen onscreen. Nue in general is the most interesting one who can really add to the group dynamic, but she barely ever appears with them.

Looking at the SDM for example, all the various relationships there have either been clearly shown to us, or are very easy to infer or headcanon. Inversely, what is Shou and Ichirin's relationship like? Murasa and Nazrin? We don't really know and it's really hard to come up with anything interesting

The Myouren temple crew unfortunately feels like the least compelling group in the series to me. They all have more or less the same relationship to Byakuren and despite having known each other for thousands of years, we still don't really know what their dynamics are like between each other.

Mizuchi already went around and apologized to everyone, and we were told that she's being accepted. This is like, the entire point of Genokyo. The buddhists hating her so much not only makes them look incredibly stupid for suspecting her, it also just makes them act like unreasonable assholes.

Maybe Satori is actually a body-double that Mamizou made. Only possible way this could be salvaged imo.

Series goes to shit as soon as Mamizou shows up, shocker. The new LE chapter this month also sucks. Can someone please get ZUN an editor, how are these even able to make it to print. Why do we need 4 straight MONTHS of accusing Mizuchi when we know immediately that she's not the culprit??
