every new AI application amounts to coming up with a smart sounding way to prey and profit from the most vulnerable and gullable

So #Affinity creative software is now free, the new version a hybrid of Photo/Designer/Publisher that Canva, which bought parent company Serif last year, has officially launched.

I've used Photo for years — cheap/solid Adobe CC alt — looking forward to trying this.

AI friends (Meta), AI sex workers…

A lot of desperate-last-resort talk regarding the sexting initiative, and yeah wouldn’t that be a silver lining? 🫧 📌

“Okay, so speaking with *client* at 2pm.”

[late that same night]

“Oh yeah that’s their time, it’ll be 9am here 😅”

Just had a client post explode beyond usual numbers, but not really sure why! Was it the type of post - a touch different than usual - or simply the perfect storm at the time? We’ll find out 🕵️

(There are too many variables for this to be a perfect science; that’s the annoying reality.)

Well well well, #TikTok has limited the amount of hashtags per post to five for me too now. (It was a change that began very recently overall.)

Honestly that’s fine: typically I was around that number for clients, couple more depending, all good. Just fine-tune your regular choices even more.

Opened up ye olde YouTube and boom 😩

It’s obviously worth using Shorts, but I maintain that simply reposting your random other-network vids there is not in the spirit of YouTube. There should always be a relevant full video linked to - the Short as a preview.

I really do love album release days for clients. In some cases I’m up late waiting to create smart links and stuff - *COUGH* time zones *COUGH* - but it’s a big moment that’s always a joy to be part of, all good 🙂🤘

This'll work well when dealing with ICE because they slap your phone out of your hand when trying to record them. But that's probably the only use for them.

Spotify publishes pointed payout stats for Canadian artists
“Canadian artists are thriving on Spotify – and the world is listening,” is the bullish headline for the streaming service’s latest country-specific breakdown of its payout stats for 2024. And in this particular country, the message is aimed squarely at local politicians and regulators. The key numbers: Canadian artists’ Spotify royalties grew by 5% last year to nearly $460m CAD ($336.4m at current exchange rates).

Signed up for early access to @gandersocial.bsky.social and do enjoy how the “nice” new social network uses maybe our meanest animal in this graphic, haha.

I hope this works out, totally up for new options that hopefully don’t corrupt themselves eventually (and something based here rocks already).
