Enjoyed it very much. Reminded myself it is a movie and people dont need to belt every note. Erivo’s voice pierced through the screen when it needed it. The end of Wizard & I, I’m Not That Girl, and of course Defying Gravity. Grande-Butera made Popular her own. Bailey so charismatic. 3D unnecessary.

The fact that politicians equate immigration with Latinidad just shows us how racist and reductive the term is when they use it. That a large portion of the US Latino population NEVER migrated to this country but have been here since, it’s something most don’t get. 😵😩

A thread on birthright citizenship I wrote in 2018, that unfortunately remains relevant.

I always thought this was where it was all headed. Abolishing birthright citizenship for the non-white and non-rich. And why I teach on United States v. Wong Kim Ark every semester.
