wait why have I never noticed that Yuma can spin clockwise and anti-clockwise. That’s so cool that his last change foot spin also changes rotational direction (extra GOE????????)

hot take, but a flat edge IS an edge violation. An “e” call is when the edge is not a clear outside edge.

If an edge could plausibly be an outside then we give it a “!”. If it is obviously flat is should still get an edge call.

the constant panning to the giant plush bear - the camera-person is so real for that hahaha

Truly a miracle to see a skater that historically struggled with the short while historically nailing the long
🇯🇵 Rino Matsuike #GPFinal

She felt very nervous coming and she felt she could’ve done her jumps with better concentration. She feels happy to be here. She has fun and she’s happy that she got a taste of the final.

Also is there something up with the ice in Grenoble? Why are the ladies all having random trips and stumbles? Tin foil hat moment hehe

Wakaba's commitment to the sport is so damn admirable. She fell on that Lutz and still delivered the best version of that already amazing step sequence and left the ice with a smile. I love her so much.

Why is the women's event behaving like a men's event what do you mean Kaori is 4th, Wakaba can still podium despite missing a combo, and Amber is in first with Mone Chiba as her biggest rival here.

Saw an absolutely nasty YouTube short titled "Their era>>>" and it was the Eteri "ladies" jumping quads and lamenting about the simplicity of today's ladies field.

It's a reminder that many in this sport still consider that era as the golden standard for women's skating.

That TRON program is a cult classic. The choice to use "The Grid"?? The starting pose matching the OG movie poster?? - she's a fan and she has a vision. I need her to have the energy to deliver this cleanly at worlds.

Oh I haven't seen a rain of plushies like that since the Hanyu days. Such a star in China!

I’m really hoping that Amber’s performance in France is the start of a trend and not a one-off. Because she’s truly the only one who can really take on Kaori in any capacity — and the sport is always better with tougher competition (that doesn’t rely on minors skating imperfect quads)
#GPCOC women preview: This is looking to be a heck of a competition - battling for the podium AND spots for the Final; Mone Chiba, Amber Glenn, Chaeyeon Kim, Rion Sumiyoshi, Rinka Watanabe, Anastasiia Gubanova, Kimmy Repond, Madeline Schizas - all have score 190+ this fall

Gotta wake up first thing in the morning and enter a state of temporal delusion to convince myself that the archived livestream is the real thing haha.
Okay I’m going to have to have FOMO of watching Cup of China in real time because my sleep bank is shouting at me to stop going against everything I tell my patients about cognitive functioning and sleep! ⛸️

The Korean Skating Union needs to get its act together. They have three world medalists (Haein, Junhwan, and Chayeon) and all have either been overworked, injured, barred, or all three.

I feel like we're finally seeing these one skater feds like KOR and ITA build off of the doors that skaters like Yuna and Carolina opened all those years ago.

These are skaters who competed with the weight of a nation on their shoulders. How nice to see others finally follow them :)
🇮🇹 Lara Naki Gutmann is the first Italian woman to win a Grand Prix medal since Carolina Kostner in 2017! #FinlandiaTrophy

Very happy to see Rino Matsuike at the top. That kind of quality needs to be rewarded, and it's quite surprising she hasn't broken 140.
