Working on some calendars to show the upcoming meetups we're gonna host. Last month was busy (3 meetups) and next month will be as well.

Was at the #utopiales festival last week (sf & fantasy con, in Nantes)

There were workshops for kids as well. Here are some pictures of the cardboard tower my daughter and I created.

We both had a lot of fun.

Spent the day in React-land (not my usual habitat)

The nomenclature is confusing. "Hooks" aren't hooks. "useCallback" isn't about callbacks.

I wish they'd coined new terms instead of reusing existing ones with different meanings.

Just binged Andor S1 & S2 (yeah, I'm late)

Acting and VFX are stellar. But the storytelling? The art of building tension through each episode and season? This show is a masterpiece.

Every single episode: "Wait, that was an hour already? One more...".

And I don't even like Star Wars 🤷

If you missed my talk at #DevFestNantes, I'll also be at @devfestlyon.bsky.social on November 28th.

The talk is about how I built brefsearch.com to search through every scene of "Bref" to find the exact scene you're looking for (in 🇫🇷).

Starring CLI tools, APIs, front-end, and a bit of AI magic ✨

Started a game of NoteQuest (solo dungeon exploring) with my 7yo daughter.

It's supposed to be played only with pen and paper but when one has nice terrain and minis, one finds any excuse to use them.

I split the code of brefsearch.com into two repositories:

- github.com/algolia/brefsearch contains the code of the one-page front-end, reading data from Algolia
- github.com/algolia/brefsearch-data contains the data and the code to generate it

Just realized I have been paying ~70€/year from my registrar for a mailbox I wasn't even using (all mails where intercepted at the DNS MX level already).

"Special character", "Machine-readable".

How am I supposed to know how a machine reads my passport? I can tell you what my name is, and how it is written on my passport, but I'm not a machine and I have no idea how one will read it...

It's 2025. Machines can read a "é" without exploding.

#DevFestNantes reminded me how much I love sharing on stage 🎤

So I'm already working on the abstract of another talk

Before I submit to CFPs, I'd love your honest feedback on the abstract. What resonates? What's missing?

And the last one is projects.pixelastic.com/landscapes/, a search into all the beautiful pictures posted on r/earthporn.

The third one I never finished: a search into all the incredible items from @griffonssaddlebag.bsky.social

The art and flavor are absolutely fantastic. I wanted to make them easier to search and discover, but I guess it's destined to remain unfinished now.

Second one to become officially "frozen" is gamemaster.pixelastic.com/maps/, a searchable list of 27k+ maps posted on r/dndmaps.

Again, I can't keep it up to date because of restrictions on Reddit APIs, so it is now frozen in place.

I am officially deprecating a few websites I built 3 years ago.

They were all depending on me getting data from the Reddit API (and its little sister: pushshift) but as this has now been closed, it's time I officially end them.

The first one is gamemaster.pixelastic.com/terrainbuild...

Recently I've started playing #BaldursGate3 again, and I documented it at bg3.pixelastic.com.

This will give you a glance at how I play videogames. My ADHD and creative mind means I hunt exploits, glitches and other edge cases for fun. No mods, latest patch.

Well done, j'en écouterai d'autres

Lucas has been one of the most incredible person to work with.
The day has come. After 9.5 years, today marks my last day at @algolia.com 💙
I joined in 2016 as employee #22 and grew from junior frontend dev to senior DevRel engineer.
It’s been an incredible ride, full of passion, growth, and unforgettable memories.
