More than 1 in 10 older adults in Medicare Part D Medication Therapy Management use multiple CNS meds, increasing fall risk, yet only ~1/3 get a comprehensive med review. Better engagement needed to reduce risk.

Congrats to Yujin Seo (CMU), working with CP3’s Dr. Katie Suda, on presenting at the IQVIA Institute Research Forum. Her poster shows drug shortages hit older adults hardest, with faster fill declines among Medicare/Medicaid patients and those linked to rural or lower-income prescribers.

New study co-authored by CP3’s @timandersonmd.bsky.social shows limited lecanemab uptake in the VHA and that nearly 30% of patients had ARIA or stroke within 7 months of starting treatment, highlighting the need for careful long-term safety and effectiveness monitoring.

🆕 @jamahealthforum.com study of 13.8M ARB users found adherence didn’t change 18 months after the recalls, many switched to alternatives within 90 days, & switching didn’t raise insurer or out-of-pocket drug costs.

Using real-world data, our colleagues (including CP3's Dr. Jenny Lo-Ciganic) found for PPH, the top-ranked risk factor was placenta previa or accreta, the top-ranked comorbidity was primary cesarean delivery, & the commonest cause was uterine atony.

CP3's Dr. Jenny Lo-Ciganic was part of a team that examined associations between trajectories of #buprenorphine use & time to adverse outcomes among youth. Bottom line: Medication adherence may prevent overdose, ED use, and hospitalization.

The DEMONSTRATE trial will assess a #MachineLearning based clinical decision support tool to reduce #opioid harm in elevated risk patients. This paper describes the protocol that will provide real-world evidence for the tool.
