Disgusting decision. There are questions that so-called hard science cannot answer. Social Science and humanities research is necessary.

Ink and watercolour selfie. Showcasing the lovely blue suture beside my eyebrow that people seem to assume is a piercing. Yeah, nah! I would look even more pissed off if it was a piercing. No offence to those who have one, it’s just not for me.

A colleague’s peer reviewed article was plagiarised and published in another journal. It was submitted for consideration by the plagiarists six days after being published open access by my colleague. Lawyers are now involved. Anyone else had this experience?

I just got asked to review and it had some substantial pay associated with it. Amazing how much that changes how you think about it and the time it takes. #academia #review

How are my Aotearoa friends managing to tweet and comment on x? I no longer have these options because I refuse to pay $1 per month to Musk.

Three weeks ago I decided to work 40 hour weeks instead of my normal 50-60. I knew I wouldn’t get through my workload . No surprise what isn’t getting done.

My own research.

This is how universities operate and why academics burn out. It’s broken. I’m broken.

I spent the day working on rewriting my university’s academic integrity policy. I present it to you here first:

Don’t be a dick.

That’s it. That’s the policy.

Currently going through several thousand responses to a survey about the use of AI in academia. We have known about the human exploitation cost for several months at least, and not one academic raised this issue. #Disappointing
