Trump and Musk don’t actually care about USAID. They care that USAID is non-partisan and removes their ability to call Presidents of countries in dire need and ask what they’re going to do to get help. Fires, wars, earthquakes, disease-all ripe for extortion and quid pro quo.

We need to stop pretending that McConnell voting no on the Hegseth nomination was anything other than calculated performance. If his no vote had meant that the nomination wouldn’t go through, he would have fallen in line. The VP tie breaker lets Moscow Mitch pretend to be “moderate”. That’s it.
