Hiking at Castle Rock in Diablo Foothills Regional Park yesterday came across this yellow California Poppy, Eschscholzia californica. Zooming in you’ll see a spider and a bee (wasp?).

The Ceanothus ‘Concha’ was literally buzzing today. (Turn it up 🙂.) Lots of honey bees and quite a few native bees. And the scent is amazing.

For the past 2 1/2 years, together with a team of fellow Master Gardeners, I’ve been converting a weed filled walkway into a California Native Plant Demo garden here in Concord. This is a small section. Every plant, even the oaks in the background, is a native. Natives are beautiful ❤️
