We mourn the passing of Loren Carpenter (February 7, 1947 - December 21, 2025), computer graphics researcher and developer. Amongs many other things, after Star Trek II CGI, he laid the foundation of fractal mountains in the #Atari8bit game Rescue on Fractalus. He was one of the authors of RenderMan
