My experience w/ the psych ward was very similar. It is really unfair to ask someone who is already suffering to navigate this kind of mess.
What ultimately helped me more than any doctors were friends who I could depend on.

people being able to look up or download pre-made chord progressions doesn't intimidate me as a musician, and people being able to generate stories from prompts doesn't scare me as a writer, because neither of those things is close to real writing or real music on their own.

like, if you're an artist who could potentially draw in Ghibli style, and you see AI doing it, you might thing "dang now I'll never get paid to draw in that style"... but are any of the people joining the trend the sort that would ever pay for art in the first place?

i think the same way we accept a kid opening a picture in paint and putting filters on it, then calling it their own 'art', we'll eventually accept people using AI as a tool to express themselves. maybe people are annoyed they can't get paid to make art people wouldn't have bought from them?

no matter how many people i see rallying against AI, i just do not get it. i mean, i GET that they're afraid of AI taking the place of human artists... but i don't feel like it's ever going to do that?
