Yesterday I received a notice that because I was double covered last year and apparently gave all my doctors the incorrect primary insurance, a year and a half worth of medical bills have been denied and I may be on the hook for $24,000. Oh yeah and I heard Brian Thompson died.

We went to the aquarium today and I had my hot pink rollator with me. This girl in a wheelchair stopped me and complimented how sassy it was and then I noticed the rainbow spokes on her chair. THEN she revealed that she had rigged up bike lights in the wheels and I squealed.

My whole life I’ve wanted to be friends with someone who would prefer to be with me above anyone else. (Apart from spouses). For decades I thought I had that and I am having a lot of trouble dealing with the fact that it has never been true.

I just broke up with my former best friend of 35 years. I tried to fix the relationship and I’m mostly just left with a litany of criticisms about my personality and character. Say something nice about me because I need it 🥲 this has been a year long process and I still have no idea what happened.

I think everyone should disengage from relationships with people who think all the problems will be solved if you just fix everything they think is wrong work you.

We don't need conspiracy theories about the election. We lost for a wide range of reasons, fair and unfair, local, national, and international--look at the wave of incumbents losing elections in the last years--and giving in to MAGA-style nonsense is very much NOT the solution.

We haven't done a big fundraising push in a few years, but we're going to be doing more of it to close out 2024. We'd like to keep the magazine going, and we'd like to keep paying contingent historians, given that the academy seems like it's going to keep producing them.
We are a magazine that pays its writers, doesn't have a paywall, and isn't supported by a university or other institution. We're 100% donor supported.
