Albert Einstein at the age of 19, during his university years at the ETH (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in Zürich, Switzerland. His thoughts at that time about light's behaviour would later lead him to the special theory of relativity.

Astrophysicist Virginia Trimble, who served as "Miss Twilight Zone" when she was a student, pictured with Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling looking over a script.

When Jocelyn Bell, who discovered pulsars, did not win the 1974 Nobel Prize for the discovery of pulsars, and the prize went to her research supervisor Antony Hewish, critics dubbed it the 'No-Bell' prize

Albert Einstein didn't like telephones. He especially didn't like being bombarded by calls from inquisitive reporters.

Nevertheless, he still had to pay his phone bills.

Here's one of his cheques to New Jersey Bell Telephone to pay the fee for his Princeton landline.

Danish quantum physicist Niels Bohr visited the Soviet Union in 1932 and met with Russian physiologist Ivan Pavlov.

Upon meeting, perhaps Pavlov asked Bohr, "Does my name ring a bell?"😜

One of the coolest retirement cakes ever made was for American Physical Society officer Alan Chodos.

It reads: "You've officially passed the employment horizon... Welcome to the black hole of retirement!"

But black holes must be escapable; he now has a post-retirement position

Science historians use many tools to explore the past: university archives, online newspaper searches, oral history records, interviews with scientists, and the Tardis.

Oops, the final item on the list was supposed to be top secret 🤫

Gravitational physicist Louis Witten was born in April 1921, little more than a year after Einstein became world famous when eclipse expeditions confirmed general relativity.

Now, at the age of almost 105, he remains one of the oldest and most prominent researchers in that field

Physicist Richard Tolman consults with Albert Einstein at Caltech.

Tolman introduced the oscillating universe idea (in science) that the cosmos passes through a succession of ever-increasing cycles,

Particles in the universe are grouped into two categories, based on their statistical properties.

Force carriers are named after the scientist on the left.

The building blocks of matter are named after the one on the right.
