An engaged and skilled workforce is the backbone of a strong public health department.
PHAB-accredited health departments are required to have a workforce development plan that assesses organization-wide competencies and capacity, addresses gaps, and identifies strategies for improvement.

The Public Health Accreditation Board (#PHAB) is committed to more than setting and upholding standards of excellence and accountability in public health through Accreditation, we also invest in understanding the barriers and facilitators of the Accreditation process.
PHAB-accredited health departments across the country agree that applying for PHAB Accreditation or Reaccreditation was the right choice. Not only did it strengthen their commitment to quality and accountability to their communities, but it also led to impactful improvements in their performance.
