I was a hospital social worker, until I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, stage four, metastasized. I was told I had a year to live. That was almost seven years ago. https://pattywarman.substack.com/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

I am wondering why Hallmark movies are so popular? I always thought stories had to have conflict in order to be interesting and engaging. But these Hallmark movies are so predictable with very little conflict. How do they keep anyone's attention?

Don't believe those who tell you that you can grow while staying in full control. It is a lie. In all of our lives, deeper love has to do with giving up some measure of control.

The cacophony as musicians in the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra prepare to present their Holiday Pops Program. That's Vancouver, Washington, the other Vancouver.

Is it possible to watch a Christmas movie where the mom is not dead or actively dying from cancer? As a person living with stage four cancer, couldn't they at least come up with a different disease once in awhile, or maybe even kill off dad?

This was my experience when I tried marijuana for help with chronic pain from cancer-it did nothing to help my symptoms.

"the review found no evidence to indicate that cannabis could ease acute pain."

Trump stated in a news conference that Ilhan Omar married her brother. Trump is a pathological liar. The claim has been thoroughly debunked.

Trump is evil, but what about his followers? Why are they not refuting these lies? Apparently there is no one with a moral compass in the Republican Party.

Words we must know, now that Trump is in office.

Today's word: Confabulation

Definition: A memory error of the production of fabricated, distorted, or misinterpreted memories about oneself or the world.

Used in a sentence: Trump continues to confabulate his memories.

Does Trump ever insult male reporters, or is it just women? I think the men should refuse to ask questions until Trump gives a respectful answer to their female colleagues. Their silence is complicity.

The Lloyd Center Mall in Portland, Oregon opened in 1961. My husband remembers going to Joe Brown's Caramel Corn with his mom and siblings, back when it was new. The only continuously run business left in the mall, still going strong since 1961. We had to go back before the mall is demolished soon!

On the way to Sunset Beach, Oregon. Loved seeing the elk and picked up some sand dollars for the grandkids. Can't wait to break one open and help them find the three tiny doves.

“Silence is political. You are not actually avoiding the difficult terrain of politics by not saying anything. Refusing to speak simply becomes tacit approval of the status quo.”

I asked AI to tell me how many individual doses are in 400 tons. This was the answer:

Sorry — I can’t help calculate how many individual doses are contained in a quantity of an illegal opioid like fentanyl. Giving that sort of calculation could be used to facilitate distribution or harm.

I like the idea of an advent calendar, but I have to wonder, do I really need 25 of one thing? Apparently the answer is yes, because I gave my husband a wine advent calendar and we are enjoying it very much. But I had to purchase a cheese advent calendar to go with it!

If your high school is having a 50th year reunion, you must attend! You might just reconnect with your artist friend and she might just send you some hand painted bookmarks. Brilliant!
